Another holiday season

Yes I know I haven't blogged all that much this year. 2010 hasn't been kind to me on many levels, and, I'll be glad to see it go. I hope 2011 holds much better times for me in all areas of my life. Maybe I should just go back to my own version of Mr Big, and, take it from there.

It's funny, I watched "Sex and the City" last night - the movie (the first one), and, my own Mr. Big and I are very much like Carrie and Big... Even the on again, off again thing for the past ten years. Alas, it is me who has the commitment issues. (And, I'm not thrilled that he has baggage... Never have been thrilled with that part since I'm always being put in last place. And, I do mean always.) And, this has made me extremely gun shy about dating any guy who has kids at at this point - even if the "kids" are now college age.

I'd love to find a guy who is 45 - 50 (since I'm now actually 44, I just kept the title of SWF42 because that is when I started writing this saga)... Anyhow, I'd like to find a guy who is 45 to 50 who doesn't have any kids - and I know you're out there - who loves to travel and likes the finer things in life and can afford to do them with me.

Somehow, I do believe my Mr. Big is planning on making yet another come-back into my life. Once again, the flowers, the dinner invitations, and, everything that he can do to romance me have once again started, but, I'm older and wiser - and I'm not going to fall for it so readily this time. I have to see that I get some type of priority once in a while and for once let work, his kids, his mother and his ex-wife take a back seat to me. If he would do that just once... Then and only then might I start taking him seriously again.

In the meantime, any other takers out there? Email me... I'll even give you a hint, somewhere on this website you'll find my email....

Happy Halloween

Well this weekend turned out a bit differently than I expected, I'm sitting in the Bryant Park Hotel right now waiting for a friend to arrive from out of town. This is an old friend whom I've traveled all around the world with from the pink sand beaches of Bermuda to "Old Town" Dubrovnik in Croatia. We're going to do a few fun things this evening including the Halloween Parade in the Village - provided the rain holds off and right now that doesn't look too promising. So I hopped online to see what movies are playing but kind of slim pickings...maybe Amelia but we shall see. Sometime the best thing to do is just wing it - something tells me we'll end up just going to dinner and talking until we're blue in the face. It's been over 3 years since we last saw each other.

And my friend just appeared so I am signing off and going to great him.

Is this a sign I am ready for a change?

In an attempt to keep my sanity as I have a few more days rest before returning to work, I decided to tackle my closet, and, sort through some things. I don't know about the rest of you, but, I seem to hang on to things that I know I will never wear again. For example, I have a business suit, clearly from the late 1980s or very early 1990s, it is so grossly out of style, I just had to try it on. I shocked myself - it still fit! But, into the Goodwill pile it went.

I really put my heart and soul into sorting clothes this time, and, my closet is now half empty. This is not a bad thing - it's time for me to update my wardrobe and go shopping. I think I wrote in a much earlier entry that I force myself to give something away when I buy something new, well, now I have a great excuse to go shopping!

I also sorted through draws, found 6 pair of mix matched socks, into the Goodwill pile for them as well. And, I even went as far as my linen closet, and, cleaned that out too.

Is this a sign I'm ready for some type of change in my life? Do I subconsciously know on some level that someone new might be entering my life? Maybe there is a move in my future? Or is it simply a case of out with the old and in with the new? Or is it the dull answer - I'm bored silly?

Regardless, it has me thinking - why do we hang on to certain items? For example, I have a Minnie Mouse watch that I got when I was 5 or 6 years old. There isn't anything particularly great about the watch. It hasn't worked in years. And, I doubt it will ever be a collector's piece - it's pretty cheesy, and, there really isn't any sentimental value associated with it. I keep thinking I should just get rid of it but, yet I can't... The question is why?

Well, enough of that - on to my shoes, and, my day of closet cleansing will be complete!

At Heathrow Waiting to Fly to the USA

Well, here I am at Heathrow waiting for my flight home. This is NOT how this vacation was suppose to turn out. And to answer your question, yes, he has called over a dozen times, I didn't talk to him, but, he left messages pouring his heart out what a mistake it was and he wasn't sure why he did it. I'm not buying it.

In my 20s, heck, even in my 30s I would have been devastated by him cheating on me. I probably would have taken him back. However, I'm older, hopefully a bit wiser, and, I simply am not going to put up with this type of nonsense at this point in my life. I've been through far too much, and, I am certain someone better - more mature - is out there for me.

The only thing that has me really upset is my cold which is absolutely horrible. I thought about staying in London a few extra days to rest up, but, I'll feel better being in my own house, in my own bed.

I probably won't be posting tomorrow so I will wish those of you following this blog in the United States a Happy 4th of July. As for those in other countries, have a wonderful weekend. I'm off to get some soup or tea or something before boarding for my flight home starts.

PS - One bit of good news. He caught my cold! And, I hope he is feeling miserable complete with all the symptoms I've been suffering while he was out cheating on me!

Hello Welcome to SWF 42

Hello, welcome to single, white, female 42. As the title clearly states, I am single, female, white and 42 and, this blog is about nothing and something at the same time. There is no real reason behind me writing this blog other than sheer boredom on a Sunday which brought about a unique challenge from a friend.

The challenge: to see if I can find a match. A real, single, white male in his 40s who like me has never married, has no kids but, yet would like to get married and still not have kids.

Requirements for the males who agree to accept this challenge:
  • Must stand erect
  • Must have the ability to form and complete whole sentences
  • Must have publicly acceptable table manners
  • Be employed
The guy cannot be any of the following:
  • A womanizer
  • A liar
  • A cheat
  • A user
  • Married, engaged or involved in a serious relationship
  • Bankrupt or in other serious financial situations
The guy should enjoy:
  • Cooking as well as dining out. No Burger King or other fast food establishments do NOT count
  • Traveling and this means luxury travel, not camping and fishing. It also means periods of being able to travel throughout the year. Someone who enjoys cruise vacations is a huge plus.
  • Theater and this means Broadway (actual NYC Broadway) in addition to movies
  • Visiting the occasional museum
  • Visiting and entertaining friends and family

If you are then email me at swf42email@gmail.com

ME? You'll have to stick around to find out...
